Since 2013, The Great Globe Foundation has been partnering with the Academy of the Unfulfilled.
Founded by a group of artists who have worked for years at the intersection of theatre creation, education, community practices, and civic engagement, the cultural association Accademia dell’Incompiuto (Academy of the Unfulfilled) was created as a space for work, research, and encounter through the performing arts. Theatre, music, singing, and speech serve as shared artistic practices — tools for building relationships and opening spaces for listening, dialogue, and collective imagination.
Activities and performing take place in a variety of contexts — theatres and cultural spaces, neighbourhoods, schools, and retirement homes — developing artistic processes that connect with the specific places and communities that inhabit them.
The approach is process-oriented, collaborative, and intergenerational: differences are seen as a resource guiding artistic creation and cultural work, understood as a space of shared responsibility and mutual care.
Internationally, the Accademia has developed a growing network of artistic collaborations. Its project Gli Assetati traveled from Pontedera to Kaunas European Capital of Culture 2022, where forty local participants created a site-specific itinerant performance weaving the Accademia’s material with traditional Lithuanian songs. The same project has generated residencies in India, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, France, Benin, Ecuador, Taiwan and Macao. Within the Erasmus+ program, the Accademia co- organized Stufen – Stages with Studio 7 Theater: a three-week immersive residency bringing together thirty-five participants from across Europe. Several members have also undertaken Erasmus+ mobility residencies in Spain, Turkey, Germany and Greece, with new exchanges in development for 2026–2027.
